Welcome

Welcome to Telisims tries The Sims 4 Legacy Challenge! This is the first challenge I am trying where I am going to do my best in keeping track of points. If you see something I have missed or that doesn’t make sense for this challenge, please feel free to comment and let me know! I will go through a brief description of the challenge rules as I understand them, and will post screenshots with family tree details as I go through my legacy.

Basic Legacy Rules

This challenge is based off of Pinstar’s Legacy Challenge where you can find the official rules along with score sheets and FAQ’s. I will try to keep track of points, but may change that mid game. I printed the entire printable scoresheet to keep track of game rules and points for this challenge.

  • Create your starter/legacy sim. May be any gender/species but must be young adult. You may choose any aspiration and starter traits for your legacy sim only. This is the only sim you are allowed to create in CAS.
  • Move your sim onto a 50×50 empty lot in one of your worlds (or use a 64×64 empty lot which is what I did).
  • Purchase items to keep in your household inventory until you reach $1,800 simoleons. Use this $1,800 to purchase your starter home necessity items (tent or bed, toilet or bush, etc). The items placed in your inventory at the start of the challenge must stay in your inventory through the entire challenge. The easiest way to do this is to purchase the Knight of the Octagon Table which costs $8,200 – leaving you with your starting $1,800. Since I moved into a 64×64 lot, I used the solution of buying 2x Point of Enmity for $2,100 and a Von-Windenburg’s Trap for $2,000 which left me with the starting $1,800 simoleons to then buy my starter items.
  • Lifespan must be set to Normal. All other gameplay features I believe are optional.
  • Follow your chosen bloodline laws through the entire challenge, no changing mid-way through!
  • The heir must always live on the starter lot (though you may move to a larger lot if you started on a 50×50). There are no restrictions on how many sims may live on your lot.
  • Your legacy sim, the next heir, their primary spouse, non-heir children and their spouses living on the lot may contribute to points earned. However, once they are moved out of the household they may not move back in and will no longer contribute to the points.

Details

My details and chosen laws for this challenge:

  • I moved my legacy sim into the 64×64 lot in Windenburg. As stated above, I purchased 2x Point of Enmity for $2,100 and a Von-Windenburg’s Trap for $2,000 which left me with the starting $1,800 simoleons.
  • Since I have seasons expansion pack, I decided to start my game play in the summer time. I always play starting in the Spring so I wanted to change it up a bit.
  • Using the hashtag #legacyloves in The Sims 4 gallery, I placed a household of 7 men into one of the 2 bd/2 ba starter houses in Windenburg without looking at any of their details. Credit to simmingbee for the use of their eligible spouses!
  • I use MC Command Center in my gameplay. I have the settings to allow non played households to get married and have children. This should make it easier for my generations to find new love interests without using the gallery.
  • Strict Equality: The founder may be of either gender. However, only children of the opposite gender to the founder are eligible to be named heir. This repeats itself for the next generation (the next heir must be a different gender than the previous heir) so that each generation will have alternating-genders as heirs.
  • Strict Traditional: To be eligible to be named heir, a child must be naturally born from their previous-generation parents and be able to trace an unbroken bloodline back to the founder. Adopted children may never be named heir.
  • Strength: The first born eligible child becomes heir by default.. but the title can be forcefully taken from them if an eligible sibling beats them in a fight. That sibling may have their title taken, (or taken back) if they lose a fight to another eligible sibling.
  • Species Law – Tolerant: The species of the child has no impact on their eligibility for heir status.
  • Seeing as how I have alternate genders only as heirs, my heirs will always maintain the surname of Lockhart (so a male marrying into the family with a female heir will take her last name). The remaining non-heir children will take their husband’s name, or will still maintain the Lockhart surname if male when moved out.
  • I will be using the Toddler Trait Generator for each toddler born/adopted into the home, as well as the Random Trait Generator as they grow older.
